The Power of God’s Love

On Valentine's Day, a teenage Muslim girl was scrolling through Pinterest when she came across a picture of John 3:16. The words read “Valentine” alongside the Bible verse. She immediately prayed to God and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Years later, she is now a missionary serving in Kenya, leading thousands to Christ. This is the power of love. I believe there is nothing stronger on this earth than the love of God for His children. There is an invisible thread that connects believers around the world, woven from God’s unconditional love. Not a single man or woman who is truly a born-again believer is without the love of God in their heart. As Romans 5:5 states, “God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

My friend, have you been feeling down lately? Have the disappointments and sorrows of the world affected you? Has the pain of rejection or loneliness pierced your heart? Have life's unmet expectations left you feeling defeated? There is truly good news: God loves you. He is a good God, and nothing you do or fail to do can change the way He views you. Isaiah 49:15 asks, “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!” How can I compare the love of our Lord? It is akin to that of a mother for her child. A woman in her right mind will not leave her child unattended or put them in danger. In a wonderful way, God keeps His loving eye on you.

I used to condemn myself for small mistakes: missing a turn while driving, failing to meet project deadlines, or oversleeping after hitting the snooze button too many times. I would blame myself for these errors, put myself down, and try to improve next time, which only led to further condemnation and underperformance. But that’s not how a believer is meant to think. Romans 8:1 assures us, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Even more reassuring is Romans 3:17: “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” It took me years to grasp this simple truth: God is not out to punish or condemn me into behaving correctly. He ceased condemning me when Christ died on the cross for all my sins and faults. The judgment is over, and the acceptance is real.

My God has accepted me, faults and all. His love is next level. I am secure in the Father’s arms, and no one will snatch me from His hands. Jesus' promise rings true today: “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:28). The devil has no hold on me; his fingers are grease-stained, and when he tries to touch me, they slide right off because the Father's grip on me is firm. I am a child of God, born of His Spirit and predestined for heaven and the Father’s house. We rest in the assurance of His work and salvation in us, not our own efforts. It’s by grace that we have been saved, for God’s good pleasure and delight. He loves to rescue us from our fears, doubts, lusts, and greed. It’s the Holy Spirit who guides my life and teaches me the right way to go: “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you” (John 14:26).

How often have I wondered if I am truly saved, believing that I could be separated from God by a single wrong thought? That notion is contrary to the word of God. He has promised me and all believers: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?... neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:36, 39).

I’m reminded of a woman who once considered herself an atheist. She spent years convinced that God did not exist, arguing against faith and dismissing the Bible as mere fiction. But in the midst of a deep depression, she found herself alone one night, overwhelmed by hopelessness. With nothing left to lose, she muttered bitterly, “God, if You’re real, show me.” In an instant, an indescribable peace flooded her heart. She burst into tears, unable to deny what she felt. That night, she surrendered her life to Jesus. Today, she boldly shares the gospel, helping others step into the same love that changed her life forever. If even she, who spent years rejecting God, could not outrun His love, how much more can you be assured that He will never let you go?

I have questioned whether God still loves me if I fail to obey Him. Fear drove me further from God and His love, into the abyss of sin, despair, and disappointment. My friend, are you running away from the love of God? He is pursuing you with outstretched arms, just as the Father of the Prodigal Son ran to him, embraced him, and kissed his dirty, sweaty face. Come to Him with your sins and all. Surrender to your loving and thoughtful Father. Step out of the shadows and enjoy His precious promises, protection, and peace. He desires you: “My son, give me your heart” (Proverbs 23:26).

Pray this with me: Lord of heaven and earth, I surrender my will. Fill me with Your love and reveal Your heart to me. I consciously turn from my sins and turn to You, my God. Take my life and do with it as You desire. I believe and confess that I am a child of God, and nothing will separate me from His love. I am Yours, and You are mine.

May His will be done in your life. Share this with a friend or two. May His love and resurrection power continue to guide you.
